Dear Parents & Carers,

The first half of the Summer term has been a particularly short one, but exceptionally busy. I would like to say thank you to our whole school community for supporting our Year 11 students as they have started their final examinations - everyone has been so calm, respectful and supportive, allowing these students to flourish in the examinations. We are exceptionally proud of how the Year 11s have started this process.

Year 11 Exams & Half Term Revision Sessions

On their return after half term, our Year 11 students have 13 days until they complete their exams and their time with us at SPA. We hope they can rest over the half term break, continue their steady, bite-sized revision sessions ready for their return. Some departments are putting on some additional sessions over the holiday which students are invited to attend:

Tuesday 27th May 9am to 12pm Maths

Wednesday 28th May 9am to 11am Health & Social Care

Thursday 29th May 9am to 12pm Food & Nutrition

Summer Uniform

As always, our students look smart and professional attending Sewell Park Academy, as we know it helps prepare them for their futures. However, with the weather getting warmer, we will be reverting to our summer uniform rules on our return. Mr Merry has created a handy graphic, below, to be able to clearly identify the changes for the students.

Parking and collection from SPA

Recently, we have seen an increase in parents waiting outside the main reception in the car park to collect students at the end of the day. Unfortunately, due to the increasing size of the school and numbers of students, this has created a number of problems. Alongside, the ‘blocking in’ of staff and academy trust staff, it has also become dangerous for students leaving though our front gate onto St Clements Hill opposite Millcroft.

Due to this we would ask that parents and carers do not drive into the main school carpark at the end of the day to collect students, unless a specific arrangement has been put in place. We will also be closing the gates prior to the end of the school day to prevent access in order to maintain the safety of students. Our front entrance onto St Clements Hill will also be made into no vehicle access as this is the front exit for our students at the front of school

Your opinion counts!

Your view and opinions are really important to us and we ask that you take a couple of minutes to share them with us in this short online parent survey.

As always, thank you all for your continued support of our students and enabling Sewell Park Academy to continue to serve our local community. We are very proud of the local area and the students who attend. I hope you have a restful half term and we will welcome back the students on Monday 2nd June.

Best wishes,
