Half Term Update 16/10/2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
It has been a fantastic half term at Sewell Park Academy! Our new Year 7 students have joined us and settled in brilliantly to the culture and ethos of the school. Our Open Evening was an opportunity to showcase the great work being done and it was really heartwarming to have so many students wanting to help and show what they have achieved for our community. The feedback from prospective parents was so positive towards the staff and students, alongside the whole of our NR3 community. We would like to also thank everyone for how smoothly we have transitioned to becoming a mobile phone free school.
Year 11 Pre-Public Examinations (PPEs)
Our current Year 11 students have their PPEs (Pre-Public Examinations) starting on 2nd November, straight after half term. They are in positive habits and departments have outlined the key revision aspects for them to work on, in manageable, bite-sized chunks, for their return.
Reception car park at the end of the school day
With the increase in student numbers at Sewell Park, we are seeing an increase in traffic around the site. In order to ensure students can leave safely, the main car gates, on both the St Clements Hill and Constitution Hill sides of the school, will be locked from 10 minutes prior to the end of the day to 10 minutes after, other than for an exit for students on foot in Year 7 on the St Clements Hill side. Therefore, there will be no access to reception during this time.
Uniform
Thank you for your continued support regarding our school uniform, standards and professional dress expectations. This is designed to support our young people when they enter the world of work in the future, as different organisations will have different expectations on dress and appearance. The full details can be found here.
Bikes & Scooter
sMany students choose to travel to school each day on a bike or scooter. For safety, we would recommend that a helmet is worn each day. Secondly, although the bike sheds are locked during the school day, we recommend that all students lock their bikes or scooters in these areas, as we cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to those being left in these areas. We would also like to remind everyone that electric bikes or scooters are not allowed to be brought or left on the school site, as we are unable to ensure they are legally compliant. If they are brought in, we will ask families to collect them separately.
Vapes & Vaping
Under UK law, an individual must be 18 years of age to buy or use a vape. We are aware that within society, this can be an issue for younger people and we wish to continue to support our community. From after half term, if a student is found to have a vape on them, it will be confiscated and disposed of (as is currently the case), alongside the same sanctions being applied as having a mobile phone in school.
Parent Survey
We really appreciate your thoughts and feedback on aspects of our practice at Sewell Park Academy. Therefore, we would be grateful if you could spare a little time to complete the survey for the first half term of the year, which can be found here.
BHET Safeguarding Policies & Practices
As part of Broad Horizons Education Trust all statutory policies and procedures can be found on our website through the link here. This includes all of the safeguarding practices and documents used across the Trust and Sewell Park Academy.
The Autumn term is always the longest and most challenging in terms of illness and absence. We hope the two week break gives all members of our community, students and staff, a rest - ready to come back in full health for the second half of the Autumn term. We saw a substantially positive impact last academic year and believe it will have the same effect this year.
Please have a well deserved break and half term together and we look forward to welcoming back our students on Monday 2nd November.
Best wishes,
