End of term update - 15/12/2023
The Autumn term at Sewell Park Academy has, as ever, been eventful and demonstrated the wonderful work ethic and values our student and staff body hold.
Our new Year 7 students are fully integrated into the school and are a pleasure to have as part of our community. Our Year 11 students have demonstrated what conscientious students and positive role models they are from their efforts this year and during their PPEs. Last month, we were able to have our annual prize giving ceremony, celebrating the achievements of our students over the last 12 months. And just today, we were able to celebrate the successes of our students through our celebration assemblies.
Attendance Matters!
For all students, at all schools, attendance to school is vitally important, with an evidenced link between attending school on a regular basis and outcomes at GCSE level and in chosen careers. At Sewell Park Academy, we are an active part of a project with all the other Norwich secondary schools, to focus on improving attendance - we look forward to updating you with details of the project in the new year. In the meantime, thank you for your ongoing support with attendance to school and please let us know if, for any reason there will be an absence by calling the attendance line on 01603 779990.
Appointments and Reception
As a school we have almost doubled in size over the past 4 years and, as I am sure you can imagine, Reception has become extremely busy. As with any large organisation, we receive lots of requests for meetings. As much as we would like to, it is just not possible to see members of staff straight away on request. All staff in the school are busy with timetabled commitments and pre-arranged appointments. Therefore, we request that you leave your details and an outline of your queries/concerns and the relevant member of staff will come back to you as soon as possible. On the spot appointments are unfortunately not a viable option.
Return to school
Just a reminder that the return to school at SPA is on Thursday 4th January (week A) in full uniform as always.
Big Norfolk Festive Holiday Fun
Big Norfolk Festive Holiday Fun is a Norfolk County Council scheme delivered alongside partners Active Norfolk with funding provided by the Department for Education. There are a mix of paid for and free spaces. The free spaces are for children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals. The free school meals page lists the benefits you need to receive to be eligible. Big Norfolk Holiday Fun winter programme begins on 21 to 22 December 2023 and again on 2 to 3 January 2024. Booking for Big Norfolk Holiday Festive Fun is now open. Please see here for activities.
We wish everyone in the Sewell Park community a happy and healthy Christmas holiday, and look forward to seeing everyone in 2024!
Best wishes,
David Day
