Norfolk Summer Holiday Activities

Keep the kids entertained this summer - with local activities for the holidays, many of which are free!
The Mile Cross Phoenix Children's Project will be providing free meals for children from 2nd August, collection between 11.30am and 1pm from The Phoenix Centre, Mile Cross Road, NR3 2LD. Monday's & Thursday's will be a packed lunch, Tuesday's and Friday's will be a hot meal. Wednesday's they will be closed.

The Big Norfolk Holiday Fun is back and open for bookings for the Summer holidays. Families eligible for means tested free school meals can access FREE holiday activity places for their children aged 5-16. Children will be able to access up to 16 days of free activity throughout the summer holidays, the sessions will include a variety of fun activities, including sports, music, arts and other exciting opportunities to learn and develop skills, alongside a nutritious meal each day. GoGo Dinosaurs - Get ready to GoGo on a FREE Jurassic jaunt this Summer!

GoGoDiscover is Break’s latest art trail in partnership with Wild in Art. It features 21 individually designed T.rex sculptures which have stomped through the streets of Norwich as a guided route to Norwich Cathedral and Dippy the Diplodocus. It encourages explorers of all ages to have fun and learn more about the City while also raising vital money for vulnerable children and young people across the region. The Jurassic trail will be on the streets of Norwich from Monday 12th July until Saturday 11th September 2021. No booking needed, free trail.


Dippy the Dinosaur is coming to Norwich Cathedral! FREE of charge.

On Tuesday 13 July 2021, Dippy on Tour will be open from 1pm until 4pm.

From Wednesday 14 July to Saturday 30 October 2021, the normal opening times will be:

Monday to Friday: 10am-4pm

Friday lates: 7pm-9pm (from July 30)

Saturday: 9.30am-5.30pm

Sunday: Closed

Last entry 30 minutes before closing

Brick Dinos at The Forum in Norwich -

FREE event but booking is essential (follow the above link to Eventbrite booking) 19th July – 30th August, Monday to Sunday 9am – 5pm.

Brick Dinos is a free, family friendly exhibition featuring a huge selection of dinosaurs created from LEGO® bricks!

Developed by artist Warren Elsmore in conjunction with palaeontologists the exhibition is an incredible educational and entertaining exhibition. The exhibition also features a range of prehistoric creatures as well as dinosaurs. From tiny insects to a four-metre-long raptor-like Masiakasaurus come face to face with these amazing creatures! 


Dino-Mite Adventures at Castle Quarter
From Thursday 22nd July to Thursday 5th August, Castle Quarter is part of the Go Go Discover T-rex trail this summer. There will be dinosaurs hidden in the centre and they need your help to find them! Tick them off on the trail sheet as you find them for your chance to WIN £50 to spend in your favourite store.

Also animatronic creatures will be roaming around in Castle Quarter at intervals between 11am and 3pm from Tuesday 10th and 31st August.

Children's Wildlife Watch Zoom Session – Bats.  Saturday 11 September, 2021. FREE.

Bats are the only flying mammal in the world. They appear in many mythical stories but do you know your fact from fiction? Join Norfolk Wildlife Trust to find out the truth about these amazing animals! Free zoom session (donation is optional). Booking required:


The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays and aims to support children’s reading for pleasure and prevent a dip in reading over the six-week break. Your child will receive a FREE pack that includes a map of the fictional town of Wilderville. The aim of the game is to read a book, collect a sticker to put on the map (some are scratch and sniff!) and solve the clues.

To make the Summer Reading Challenge even more fun, we are providing a different free activity sheet every week during the summer holidays to pick up when you visit us. Join the library free of charge to access all of their services:

Norfolk Libraries – FREE online events for children and young people, including story time, fun information sessions, coding sessions to make your own game and loads more:


Big Local (Catton Grove area) - are offering FREE activities to children and young people in the Big Local area only. Activities include a film workshop, arts and crats, trampolining and loads more. Booking required, see details on the flyer plus a map showing the area covered by Big Local.

National Wildlife Trust Open Garden and BioBlitz at the Bishop’s House in Norwich, in aid of the Children And Nature Fund. Explore the historic garden, take part in an interactive day of wildlife recording, and discover the species that call this magnificent city centre garden home. Refreshments available. All funds raised will directly benefit NWT projects connecting children with the natural world. Entry £5 but free to wheelchair users and children.  Booking required:
