Year 10 trip to Sizewell Nuclear Power Plant

January 22, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians

As part of your child’s GCSE Science studies, they will soon be looking at how Nuclear Power is generated. To aid learning of this topic, we are organising a trip to Sizewell Nuclear Power Plant on Friday 2nd February and Monday 5th February. Students will learn how Nuclear power is generated and also about subatomic particles.

The trip is free of charge; however, we are asking for a £5 voluntary donation to help cover the cost of the coach and to allow similar trips like this to take place in the future. This can be paid to the front office. We will be leaving school at 9:15 am and returning to school at approximately 3:15pm, where the children will be released as normal.

All students will need a packed lunch including a drink, these will be included for any students who are entitled to free school meals. All students are expected to dress in full school uniform and as we will be spending a considerable amount of time outdoors please provide your child with a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves.

There are limited spaces (80) available on the trip and they are being offered on a first come, first serve basis. Your child will be informed which date they have been allocated as soon as we have filled all of the spaces and have a list of students who are attending.

Completed forms should be returned to your child’s form tutor along with the voluntary donation no later than Wednesday 24th January 2018. If you have any questions about the visit, please feel free to email me at

Kind regards
