Special Educational Needs and Raising Acheivement

Aims
We aim to provide every child with access to a broad and balanced education. This includes the National Curriculum in line with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2015) and the Equal Opportunities Act 2010.
At Sewell Park Academy we are committed to working together with all members of our school community. This information report has been produced with information and support from all school stakeholders (pupils, parents/carers, governors, and members of staff).  We would welcome your feedback and future involvement in the review of our offer, so please do contact us.  The best people to contact this year are

Heather Tew (Chair of Governors/SEN Governor)
Mrs Barwick (SENDCO)
Mr Day (Headteacher)

During Term Time you can contact Mrs Barwick, SENDCO on 01603 411721 or at a.barwick@sewellpark.org

If they cannot answer your question straight away, they will come back to you in 48 hours. The new contact telephone number is: 01603 679183

Norfolk SEND Youth Forum (NSYF) is an opportunity for young people to share their experiences, and to work together to improve services for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). NSYF are seeking new members and you can take part in regular on-line meetings, and/or access the new online interactive pinboard, where you will be able to post your thoughts anonymously.

If you are 11 – 25 years, and have something to say, and would like to make a difference for young people,

like you, with SEND, NSYF would like to hear from you. To join the Norfolk SEND Forum, visit their website

to register your interest.

Parent feedback
"I apologise now if you have an influx of applications for Year 7 in September! I openly praise you and the school for the best SEN provisions in Norfolk, Unfortunately my son was too complex for it to work but it certainly wasn't from lack of trying and you did everything you could and more, for which I could never thank you enough. Sewell Park is always my recommendation to any parents who need that extra touch! Mrs Barwick you are a credit to the school and you encompass what a SENCO is all about"

"Going from Primary to High School is a big leap for both parent and child. It's even more daunting when your child has multiple SEN needs that other mainstream schools have said they are simply unable to meet. We can't believe how well our child has settled into Sewell Park and how amazing the school has been at supporting her and her various SEN needs. Such as doing a reasonable adjustments card. Her mental health wasn't the best but her general mood has changed and she is far happier and smiling every time we pick her up. She speaks so highly and fondly of the school. As a parent all you really want is to know your child is happy at school, which she is, so we definitely know we made the right choice in choosing Sewell Park.
Year 7 Parent
"I am over the moon at how my son is enjoying school. His whole attitude to school seems to have completely changed and I can only put it down to the fabulous team of people you have there and your own incredible way of helping children. I am so overwhelmed at the support we have been shown, as is my son who said 'I can't believe I've finally got a school that say's they will help me and actually did!'  Thank you from the bottom of my heart"
