Dear Parents & Carers,

It has been another fantastic term here at Sewell Park Academy, but we are aware everyone is ready for a well deserved break over the Easter holidays. Among many aspects, some recent notable events and achievements include:

  • Our Year 7 & 8 STEM team winning the Scrapbot challenge held at the University of East Anglia

  • Both our Year 8 & 9 Football teams winning their respective Norwich Community Cup finals - Year 8 winning 6-2 against Open Academy and Year 9 winning 5-4 on penalties, after finishing 1-1 against Sprowston Community Academy

  • Sewell Park being oversubscribed again for September 2025 with around 33% more first choice applications than we have spaces

  • The fantastic attitude to learning shown by all students, but particularly Year 11 through their Pre-Public Examinations ready for their final exams

Uniform & Attitude to Achieve for Year 9

Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support in regards to our uniform and Attitude to Achieve policy. Our students are among the very smartest in Norwich and wear their uniform with a great deal of pride. It also demonstrates to them expectations in the future within the world of work. We also continue to have staff from other schools visit and comment so positively on the learning culture in lessons - it is fantastic to see our young people as examples of such positive engagement. As Year 9 are now settled into their GCSE options, just like has previously happened for Years 10 and 11, we will be adapting the Attitude to Achieve system. This will mean there will no longer be an A1 given in lessons. The rationale is that our students are calm, engaged and focused and this will allow continuity through the rest of their studies.

Anguish’s Educational Foundation - Help with the cost of school uniforms

If you live in the City of Norwich, Catton, Corpusty, Costessey, Hellesdon, Sprowston or Thorpe St Andrew and need some help with the cost of school uniform for the new school year, starting in September, you may be able to apply for help from Anguish’s Educational Foundation. Email info@norwichct.org.uk or call 01603 621023. Please note - any applications received after July 31st may not be processed before the new academic year starts.

Please find attached a flyer from our uniform provider Stevensons regarding a slight change to their opening hours.

The daily FSM allowance has been raised to £2.58 per day. Parents & carers may also have noticed that prices have increased slightly in the canteen, this is to cover increasing operating costs. Our providers Aspens, continue to try to deliver the best value possible whilst keeping the menu varied and interesting. Click here to see the new menu for the summer term.

Farewell to Mrs Burnett

At this point, after 20 years of service to Sewell Park Academy, Mrs Burnett, our Librarian, is retiring. She has given an incredible amount of time and effort to the students who attended here, encouraging a love of reading and creating a safe environment for so many young people. This has been alongside supporting the school through running quizzes to raise money on behalf of the PTFA. We wish her well on a well deserved break and time for herself!

Thank you all for your continued support of our students and enabling Sewell Park Academy to help our young people be so successful for their futures. I hope you have a restful Easter break.

Best wishes,

David Day

Headteacher
