Governance
Governors are vital to an academy’s success. They are key to the development and implementation of the strategic direction and leadership within the academy; are a critical friend to the head of academy; integral in the establishment and implementation of the academy vision; and support, question, challenge and hold the academy to account. Their strategic input and oversight makes a difference in improving standards across all aspects of the work of the academy. Vitally, the governors ensure that the total resources of the academy are allocated to achieve best value for money and highest progress and standards.
How to become a Parent Governor
Sewell Park Academy, like all schools, seeks governors to provide an independent perspective on its work. Governors meet twice a term and review recent performance and plans for the future. Their role is to provide support to the Head and staff in running the school and to ask questions in order to obtain a greater understanding.
This is not an onerous task and training is provided as needed. The main benefit is that governors bring a different viewpoint.
The governing body consists of the Head, staff representatives, parents and community representatives. If you might be interested in joining the team then please contact the Head, David Day via his PA c.penn@sewellpark.org
Further information about our Governors can be found here and on the Broad Horizons Education Trust website
