British Values

The fundamental British values - democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance and the rule of law - were first set out by the Government in the 'Prevent' strategy in 2011. In November 2014, the Department for Education
published guidance on promoting the British values in schools. This aims to improve safeguarding; strengthen the barriers to extremism; ensure children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background and to ensure young people leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain.
At SPA we are dedicated to serving our community and surrounding areas and we recognise the multicultural, multi-faith and ever-changing nature of the UK, and therefore that which we serve. We also understand the vital role we play in ensuring that groups or individuals within our school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalisation by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them.
We actively promote the British values through our curriculum, weekly assemblies, SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural) themes and activities, extra-curricular activities and student voice.
